After the short flight from beijing and a long cab ride from the Qingdao airport, me and Carina relax and watch SuperGirl on TV in my, not exactly 5-star, hotel room.From our hotel it was a 20min walk down the hill to the Number 1 bathing beach. On the way we passed Zhongshan Park.The park has an amusement area with some very questionable statues of trademarked characters.Walt Disney is rolling over in his grave.

From our hotel it was a 20min walk down the hill to the Number 1 bathing beach. On the way we passed Zhongshan Park.

The park is named after Dr. Sun Yat-sen (Sun Zhongshan). He was a famous revolutionary leader in China. The park has a giant statue of his head.We arrived at the beach just in time for breakfast. The weather was a bit overcast, but we were both ready to enjoy the morning at the beach.For a cloudy morning, the beach seemed pretty full of people. The swimming area was segmented off with buoy ropes, making it seem like they were used to dealing with much bigger beach crowds. There was a strange phenomenon at this beach. A decent number of the locals were wearing full face masks. We couldn't figure out whether it was to protect from the sun, the water, or jellyfish. But the fashion statement was quite striking.

The museum shows off both the modern and historical equipment used to make beer.
I guess a crowded beach is a great place to sleep face down in the sand.

After we finished our walk to Little Qingdao Island it was getting dark. Qingdao looks a lot prettier when the lights come on at night.A night shot of the beach.

It was already dinner time.We went back to the Beer Street, the street beside the Tsingtao Brewery, to have dinner. "Tsingtao beer can give you passion and happiness". What else can you ask for?Beer Street had what seemed to be over a kilometer of patio restaurants, all packed with people enjoying the traditional Qingdao meal: fresh beer, fresh seafood, and skewers of meat.
