Sculpture

I started doing this as a hobby in the fall of 2000. One day, as an impulse, I picked up some cheap Crayola modeling clay and started to play around with it. With the modeling clay I like create  miniature figures, which I first mold, and then carve in fine detail after they have been hardened. I've been focusing on capturing the forms of the human body and the draping of cloth. I decided to take this hobby to the next level by enrolling in a sculpture studio course with the art department at UNC. In this course we worked with wood, metal, and found objects.

Here are some samples of my work:

ART 16A Sculpture 1, with Professor Juan Logan.

To capture the antique feel of the sculpture I present some of the
above images as in monocrome sepia toned photographs.

This piece was done on my own time at home. It is a clay figurine small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. The figure and pose were taken from a Victoria Secret's catalog.

This work was done as my second project for the course,
ART 16A Sculpture 1, with Professor Juan Logan.

The work was original displayed inside an old 1950's briefcase with its inside painted dark blue and studded with stars. The goal of this piece was to portray a medieval diarama covered in images or bizare monstars, foriegn lands and cryptic warnings.

Each side represents an aspect of myself, including my love for nature, my love of technology, my love of history and my passion for philosophy and thought. In each room there is a clay figure at home in the surroundings. The street signs welcome the viewer into the domain.
